The talk at the Tate about ‘Topology- the secrets of space’ described that space is conducted by neighbourhood points in a region. I began thinking, what if these points were occupied by emotions, peak emotions to be exact. How would they exist? The inspiration to investigate into this specific aspect of emotion derived from dancing intuitively to music having emotional, physical and mental effects. When I am really at that peak, when the music is at its best… I feel warmth in my heart as if the connection between my body and the music were made to be together, working in sync. The peak point in the music acts as a spiritual reckoning running throughout my body with a feeling so uplifting, I am completely in the moment. I am untouched. No-one is there, I am in this secular void and therefore a loss of inhibitions takes place. The emotion is euphoric yet a strike of pain in coherence; I can’t help but smile. If someone does actually physically try to dance with me at that time I feel that they have stolen a precious moment but they do not know how much that moment means to me.
My body moves differently depending on the music, it has to be either music I know I have a strong connection to or a song that I haven’t heard in a long time that I had a previous connection to and was played. My body flows into whatever it was it to be, RELEASE. Close my eyes is a given at that moment because its such an intense feeling that I want to be completely incased in it.
